Episode 180: Paul Weller

Hello and Welcome to Episode 180 of the World’s First Paul Weller Fan Podcast

I’m Dan Jennings and ten years ago I gave up my life’s dream and career as a radio presenter with one big regret…

Never getting to interview my hero… the legendary singer-songwriter and musician – Paul Weller…

This podcast exists purely to solve that issue…

Welcome to the final episode of Desperately Seeking Paul….

I’ll have more to say about this incredible podcast journey and the conclusion to our story in the coming days and weeks here on my website… but for now, I just wanted you to enjoy the finale… and to share a few Thanks!.

My thanks go to

Every single guest who has joined our series – for giving up their time for free to chat to me – I’ll be forever grateful to each and every one of you for letting me grill you in my best Paxman-style over the past 3 years.
Your stories have made this a far richer experience than I could ever have imagined.

Nicky Weller & Ann Weller for letting me into your homes – virtually and in real life – for an insight into the Weller world…

Stuart Deabill for helping to turn this podcast into a live theatre experience and for being episode number 1 and a brilliant friend throughout the whole series….

Every single listener for downloading, sharing, grabbing merchandise, virtual coffees, adding comments, spreading the word ! Whether you’ve listened to a few (WTF?!) or all of them – it’s appreciated…

My brilliant wife, Kate and my two wonderful kids, Henry and Freddie. For your love, support, patience and guidance through life and this daft venture. Thank-you!.

To our fabulous mate, Keely Shaw for the fabulous artwork that made our podcast stand out on social media and podcast platforms so beautifully.

My wider family – especially my mum, Jan and my Nana & Grandad, Pat and Bob for their love and support in my radio career. The endless drives to Hospital Radio or work experience at the BBC, their sheer love of what I was doing with my life in the late 90s and ’00s. I have such fond memories from my time at the Beeb and with Commercial Radio, and their support made it possible.

Radio really was the best job in the world at times and it has been a real joy to rediscover that passion for making audio, the spoken word, research, production and interviewing again.

And of course – to all of the musicians involved in the creation of these wonderful songs – on record or live in concert – Paul is right about music being the heart-beat of life and you are all the bloody flooding through out veins.

And finally… to Paul Weller…
They say “Never Meet Your Heroes”…
Well in the case of Paul Weller, I’ll borrow his phrase… “That bullsh*t is bullsh*t”…
I’m pleased to say that I am still a ‘Big Fan, Big Fan”…

  1. Just finished listening. So worth the wait (and sad it’s over) Paul is genuine and interesting to listen to. Prompts and questions Dan were spot on and confirmed for us long time fans just how honest he is about himself, family, experiences and influences. A gem. A fantastic interview that sounded so natural and you brought out the best from him. ❤️👍

  2. So Dan, you did it mate! What a relaxed and great sounding interview. I felt the depth and sincerity from both Paul and yourself.
Highlight for me was when he spoke about The Beatles being part of his life like his family, because that’s how I feel about him, an ….. ever present in my life since I was 16, only people who have experienced the same feelings understand the connection, or bond, if you like, that I have with him and his music. You’ve added to that experience. Thank you man ✊🏼

  3. What a superb finale to a series of podcasts that have constantly improved, entertained and informed throughout the journey. I was a little sad to see the end in sight but the final episode more than countered that. An incredible interview with Paul – thank you Dan and I look forward to whatever comes next that you share with us.

  4. Hands down, best Paul Weller interview ever! Never before have I heard him so at ease, so eager to go in-depth on such a broad range of topics. You’ve captured his restless and uncompromising pursuit of his muse. He exudes humility, sincerity, warmth and, of course, modliness! You’ve given us an early Christmas present that only enriches and warrants our Weller obsession. Congratulations, Dan!
